Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP is pleased to announce that Partners Emily Burkhardt Vicente and Roland Juarez have been named to the inaugural Leaders of Influence: Labor & Employment Attorneys list by the Los Angeles Business Journal (LABJ).

The list honors attorneys recognized as outstanding professionals in the industry by the LABJ, based on their professional achievements, community leadership, milestones and notable accomplishments throughout the last 12-18 months.

Co-chair of the firm’s labor and employment team, Vicente is a trial lawyer who has defended some of the largest Fortune 100 companies in high-stakes employment and wage-hour litigation and is experienced in taking hybrid class and collective action cases to jury trial. She has helped a number of clients navigate sexual harassment claims fraught with legal and public relations challenges in the #metoo era. In her counseling practice, Vicente assists companies in developing forward-thinking compliance strategies that reduce disputes and mitigate employment-related risks. Recently, she creatively advised a variety of businesses through workforce issues attendant to closing, reopening and operating a business during the unprecedented challenges created by COVID-19. Vicente also works with Fortune 100 companies on the design and implementation of diversity and inclusion programs and other ESG initiatives. Additionally, she serves as co-chair of the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee, which is dedicated to advancing the promotion, retention and advancement of diverse lawyers and staff within the firm and community. Most recently Vicente was named a 2022 Visionary by the Los Angeles Times’ Business of Law Magazine, honored as a finalist for the 2021 LABJ “Leaders in the Law” awards, shortlisted for the LABJ’s 2021 Best Diversity & Inclusion Executive of the Year award and listed as one of the LABJ’s 2021 Women of Influence.

A partner in the firm’s labor and employment practice, Juarez handles high-stakes employment cases with an innovative approach. His experience includes class actions, non-compete, non-solicitation and employee raiding cases, discrimination, harassment, disability, wage and hour, PAGA and Title III website accessibility cases. He has secured numerous trial and arbitration wins in wage and hour cases and various discrimination cases, including precedent-setting wins in several industries. Highly decorated for his outstanding trial work, Juarez has been listed on the Daily Journal’s “Top Labor and Employment Lawyers 2020” awards, as well as the LABJ’s lists for 2022 “Top 100 Lawyers,” “Minority Leaders of Influence: Attorneys” in 2021 and 2022, and, for four consecutive years, “Leaders of Influence: Top Litigators & Trial Lawyers.”
