(Washington, DC)—On June 23, 2016, the Corporación Interamericana para el Financiamiento de Infraestructura S.A., a sociedad anónima registered under the laws of the Republic of Panama (“CIFI”) closed on a US$15.5 million dollar secured loan to San Francisco S.A., a sociedad anónima organized under the laws of the Republic of Paraguay (the “Borrower”). The proceeds of the loan are intended for the purpose of financing capital expenditures in connection with the construction, development and operation of a new port terminal in the city of Villeta, Republic of Paraguay and to support the Borrower’s refinancing of certain bank debt. The security included pledges of shares by the guarantor in an affiliate company, a mortgage and a security interest in insurance policies.

The U.S. based firm of Andrews Kurth LLP advised CIFI on the financing.
