Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP partner Lorelie S. Masters has been shortlisted for Best in Insurance & Reinsurance for the Women in Business Law Awards 2021. The award honors “the outstanding achievements of women in over thirty different practice areas in business law from across Americas. These are individuals who stand out as leaders amongst their peers and who have been instrumental to innovative approaches in their field.”

Masters, based in Washington, DC, is a nationally recognized insurance coverage litigator. She has advised clients on a wide range of liability coverages, including insurance for environmental, cyber, directors and officers, property damage, and other liabilities and loss. Most recently, she has advised clients in a variety of industries on COVID-19 losses under a wide variety of first-party property, business-interruption policies and “package policies” and obtained multi-million dollar settlements under D&O, Side-A Only D&O and E&O policies. Her cases have earned her recognitions such as being named to Benchmark Litigation’s “Top Women Litigators” and the Profiles in Diversity Journal’s “Women Worth Watching” list.

Masters served a term as president of the Women’s Bar Association of the District of Columbia and helped found and lead the American College of Coverage Counsel as its second president. She also serves on the Board of Governors of the American Bar Association. She has an active pro bono practice and is a founding board member of the Human Trafficking Legal Center. In addition, she is an active speaker and author and has been recognized by The National Law Review as a “Go-To Thought Leader.”
