Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP Partner George C. Howell III has been named to the Virginia Lawyers Weekly’s Class of 2023 Hall of Fame.

Howell is chair emeritus of the firm’s executive committee, and former head of its Tax and ERISA practice. He assists clients with the tax aspects of REITs, REMICs, securitizations, private investment funds, and complex financial products. Howell is a former chair of the American Bar Association Tax Section and a former president of the American College of Tax Counsel. He frequently speaks at seminars and conferences on REITs, securitization and other financial products.

Sponsored by Virginia Lawyers Weekly, the Hall of Fame recognizes Virginia lawyers who are at least 60 years old or have been in practice for 30 years, as well as posthumous honorees. Criteria for inclusion include career accomplishments, contributions to the development of the law in Virginia, contributions to the bar and to the Commonwealth at large and efforts to improve the quality of justice in Virginia.
