Virginia Business magazine has named Terry McAuliffe, global strategy advisor for the Centre for Information Policy Leadership (CIPL) at Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP, and Todd Haymore, managing director of the firm’s Global Economic Development, Commerce and Government Relations practice, to its 2020 list of Heavy Hitters.

McAuliffe and Haymore are among 50 Virginia business leaders included in the publication’s annual list, which honors “powerful and influential” businesspeople from a range of industries who are “leaving their imprint on the commonwealth.”

Virginia Business notes several of McAuliffe’s accomplishments as Virginia’s 72nd governor and his record on economic development, “bringing in more than $20 billion in capital investment, and promoting Virginia on more than 35 trade and marketing missions to five continents.”

Former Gov. McAuliffe currently provides strategic counsel to CIPL, the firm and its clients with a particular focus on cybersecurity and privacy issues given his work and recognition in those fields during his governorship.

Haymore is recognized by Virginia Business for the “considerable insight into Virginia government and policy” he brings to the firm’s Global Economic Development, Commerce and Government Relations practice, having worked in the administrations of three governors. During his almost 12 years in state government, Haymore focused on recruiting new economic development investment to Virginia by domestic and foreign companies and growing Virginia’s presence in the global marketplace by expanding export opportunities for Virginia companies.

Prior to joining Hunton Andrews Kurth, Haymore served as commissioner of the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services under Gov. Tim Kaine and as secretary of agriculture and forestry under governors Bob McDonnell and McAuliffe, who named him secretary of commerce and trade. Prior to his work in state government, Haymore held several leadership positions for two Fortune Global 1000 companies where he served as lead project manager on ‘greenfield’ and expansion projects in the U.S. and abroad.
