The National Law Journal named Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP and Cognicion LLC as a 2020 Legal Technology Trailblazer based on their collaboration of the COVID-19 Complaint Tracker. National Law Journal’s Trailblazers are recognized for using legal technology to change the way law firms and legal departments operate. This special section profiles companies that are taking innovative measures to set them apart from others in the market.

Created by Washington, D.C.-based partner, Torsten Kracht and Cognicion LLC, the COVID-19 Complaint Tracker is a comprehensive, interactive dashboard and database of state and federal litigation involving COVID-19 claims. Leveraging multiple technologies and data sources, the tracker is updated daily and is able to display the data in such a way that organizations can easily identify trends and assess risk.

“We were one of the very first to market, with other research tools not offering state and federal data,” said Chris McDaniel, President and CEO of Cognicion. “And although the tool is targeted for use by law firms and corporations, it is also open to the public, with no registration required. It was built for the common good… [and] has enabled clients of Hunton and Cognicion, as well as others, to make better decisions based on data.”

Since its launch in April 2020, the COVID-19 litigation tracker has received tens of thousands of page views from all across the world. The tracker has been featured in stories by American Lawyer Media, The Washington Post, The New York Times, USA Today, Reuters and many other respected media outlets.
