REO-To-Rental Bonds Make Slow Arrival On Wall Street

Law360

Tom Hiner and Peter Mignone spoke with Law360 about single family rental (or REO-to-rental) investment vehicles programs currently gathering momentum and attracting capital in the US real estate markets. In single family rental programs, real estate and private equity investors are buying single-family homes, repairing and refurbishing them, and renting them out to tenants rather than selling them to buyers borrowing under mortgage loans. Mignone and Hiner spoke about fund investments in these assets, potential REIT or other public company exits, securitization implications and aggregate financing for portfolios of single family rental properties. Mignone's practice focuses on commercial real estate and the capital markets and Hiner's practice focuses on structured finance and a wide variety of corporate finance transactions.
