New York, NY, September 24, 2008 — Hunton & Williams LLP announces the continued expansion of its corporate practice with the addition of Scott D. McKinney as Counsel in the Washington office. He is the firm's most recent lateral hire from Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld and rejoins J. Steven Patterson, who came to Hunton & Williams last month as co-head of the corporate, securities and M&A practice.

McKinney focuses on securities matters, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance. He represents public and private companies, special committees, private equity sponsors, and investment banks in a variety of corporate and securities transactions. He regularly counsels senior management regarding disclosure, governance, and securities trading matters.

"Scott's abilities are reflected in the sophistication of the transactions that he has managed and the satisfaction of the clients with the outcome of those transactions," says Patterson, who has worked with McKinney for more than 10 years.

McKinney received an undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago and a law degree magna cum laude from the University of Illinois. He often writes on securities and governance matters; earlier this year, he led a discussion of SEC regulation of shareholder proposals at a meeting between senior members of the SEC’s Division of Corporation Finance and the Corporate and Securities Law Committee of the Association of Corporate Counsel. McKinney is a member of the District of Columbia and Illinois Bar Associations.
