Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP represented the remarketing agent in connection with Alabama Power Company’s tax-exempt remarketing. The firm acted as counsel to Stifel, Nicolaus & Company, Incorporated, as the remarketing agent for the remarketing of $87 million of The Industrial Development Board of the Town of West Jefferson Pollution Control Revenue Refunding Bonds (Alabama Power Company Project), Series 1998 (the “Bonds”).

The Bonds were initially issued by The Industrial Development Board of the Town of West Jefferson and the proceeds were loaned to APC to finance or refinance a portion of the cost of the acquisition, construction, installation, equipping and sale to APC of certain air and water pollution control and solid waste disposal facilities at the Miller Steam Plant located near the Town of West Jefferson in Jefferson County, Alabama.

APC is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Southern Company.
