Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP is pleased to announce that the Houston Bar Foundation has honored the firm for its support of the Houston Volunteer Lawyers (HVL) and its mission to provide critical pro bono legal services.

The firm was among a select group of Houston area law firms and attorneys recognized at the foundation’s annual luncheon, hosted at the Marriott Marquis Houston on Feb. 25, 2020. Hunton Andrews Kurth was presented with the foundation’s award for Outstanding Contribution to HVL by a Large Firm.

The event also celebrated the formal transition of the Houston Bar Foundation’s leadership, which includes firm partner Neil Kelly, who was installed as the organization’s treasurer for 2020.

As the pro bono legal aid arm of the Houston Bar Association, HVL provides free legal services to low-income Harris County residents, who face an array of pressing legal needs, including child custody, landlord/tenant, guardianship, and probate matters.

Hunton Andrews Kurth is a leading supporter of HVL, having donated more than 1,500 hours of free legal services through the program in fiscal year 2019. Each year, the firm works on more than 40 cases for HVL.

In the fall of 2020, Hunton Andrews Kurth Houston is sponsoring a two-year pro bono fellowship with HVL, based out of the firm’s Houston office. The position is for a lawyer interested in the field of public service. The fellow’s time will solely be dedicated to pro bono client referrals from HVL.
