The Bangkok office of Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP assisted Tencent Holdings Ltd. (Tencent) and its subsidiary, China Literature Limited, in the exchange of their shares in Ookbee U, one of Thailand’s largest social medial platform operations for user-generated content (UGC).

Tencent is a Chinese multinational technology conglomerate holding company and was the first company in Asia to come close to a trillion dollar valuation. China Literature is a listed subsidiary of Tencent that develops, licenses and distributes a vast and diverse content library through its online reading platforms, QQ reading Platform, Qidian, and other reading platforms throughout Asia, including those of Ookbee U.

In addition to its UGC platforms, which enable a greater number of writers to create and publish original literary content online, Ookbee has e-book stores across Southeast Asia with a presence in Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines and Malaysia.

The Hunton Andrews Kurth team was comprised of partner Stephen Bennett and associates Tanagorn Thimasarn and Wichaya Apiratkasem.
