Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP acted as counsel to the underwriter in connection with the issuance of $98 million of The Industrial Development Board of the Town of West Jefferson Solid Waste Disposal Revenue Bonds (Alabama Power Company Plant Miller Project), Series 2023 (the “Bonds”).

The Bonds are issued to provide funds to finance the acquisition, construction, installation and equipping of certain solid waste disposal facilities or portions thereof located at Alabama Power Company’s (“APC”) Miller Steam Plant in Jefferson County, Alabama and to pay all or a portion of the costs of issuance of the Bonds.

APC is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Southern Company. APC is engaged in the generation, transmission, distribution, and purchase of electricity and the sale of electric service within the State of Alabama at retail in approximately 400 cities and towns (including Anniston, Birmingham, Gadsden, Mobile, Montgomery, and Tuscaloosa), as well as in rural areas and at wholesale.
