Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP is pleased to announce that partner Kelly Sandill has been honored as one of the Premier Women in Law by the Houston Association of Women Attorneys. The annual award ceremony recognizes only four “lawyers breaking new ground in the legal profession.” Sandill was especially selected as a “fierce advocate and trial lawyer committed to the mentorship of women attorneys.”

As an experienced litigation partner and co-chair of the firm’s Women Lawyers Subcommittee, Sandill has centered her efforts on improving advancement opportunities and mentorship for diverse and underserved minorities. In addition to her advocacy for women lawyers, Sandill is a strong ally of the LGBTQ community with membership in the Houston LGBTQ+ Political Caucus and the Human Rights Campaign’s Federal Club. In 2017, she was named one of Houston’s 50 Most Influential Women by Houston Woman Magazine, and she accepted an award for outstanding advocacy from the LGBTQ Law Section of the State Bar of Texas for her authorship of an amicus brief to the Texas Supreme Court supporting the rights of married LGBTQ government employees to receive employment benefits equal to those of same-sex married couples. Sandill also advocates and promotes inclusion for all ages, from informing educators about students’ constitutional rights at the annual Teachers’ Law School hosted by the American Board of Trial Advocates – Houston Chapter, to coaching students studying global women’s rights as part of their International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program exhibition projects and serving as a literacy coach for young women in underserved communities.

Sandill was recognized at the Premier Women in Law Luncheon on March 31, 2022. A full list of honorees can be found here.
