Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP partner Geoffrey Fehling has been appointed to co-chair the Director and Officer Liability Committee of the American Bar Association’s Business Law Section. The Committee serves as a resource for practitioners concerning the ever-expanding liability of directors, officers and managers of corporations and alternative entities. The Committee monitors and reports on the law and ethical principles relating to executive protection from civil, administrative and criminal liability.

The Committee also seeks to develop best practices for in-house lawyers charged with drafting, counseling, reviewing and communicating about executive protection programs to harmonize rights of statutory exculpation, advancement and indemnification available to directors and managers under statutory authority and D&O liability insurance.

Fehling, who previously served as vice-chair and led the insurance subcommittee, will serve a three-year term as co-chair, which will begin after the Business Law Section’s Fall Meeting.
