Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP is proud to announce that Deidre Duncan has been honored by Hart Energy as one of its Impactful Veterans in Energy. The Impactful Veterans in Energy program highlights the contributions and achievements of veterans in the oil and gas industry and acknowledges the value of their service to our country.

Deidre Duncan earned her BA on an Army ROTC scholarship, then deferred her required military service until after law school. With her JD in hand, she was selected by the Army to a government honors program to serve as an Army Captain and as Assistant General Counsel of the Army at the Pentagon. That’s when she took her first deep dive into environmental law and, specifically, the Clean Water Act and the National Environmental Policy Act, advising the Secretary of the Army on closing and realigning military bases and environmental and land use issues involved in the Corps of Engineers’ civil works projects. In 2001, following Deidre’s four-year stretch with the Army, she joined Hunton & Williams LLP (now Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP) in Washington, DC. Duncan now leads Hunton Andrews Kurth’s nationally recognized environmental practice and oversees a team of nearly 50 attorneys throughout the US helping clients navigate the full panoply of state and federal environmental laws and regulations.

In lieu of an in-person event, Hart Energy will celebrate the selected veterans with an Impactful Veterans in Energy “micro-site” published at the end of the year. Additionally, all honorees will be recognized online and in the January 2022 issue of Oil and Gas Investor.
