Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP is proud to share that New York partner and co-chair of the firm’s global real estate practice, Laurie Grasso, has been named to the 2022 Power 100 list by Commercial Observer for the second consecutive year. This elite list honors “commercial real estate’s most powerful players.”

In its 15th year, the Power 100 recognizes power players in the real estate industry who are considered to be “the most adept leaders who rose to the top by thinking differently, by challenging the status quo, and by rewriting the definition of excellence.”

As one of the few lawyers on the list, the publication recognized Grasso for her extensive work both in New York and across the country that “[brought] the value of the transactions she led for Hunton Andrews Kurth to over $7 billion… more than double what she notched on last year’s Power 100 list.” Among other noteworthy projects, the publication also highlighted Grasso’s representation of Fairstead in the acquisition of 1,904 affordable housing units across 48 buildings in the Bronx “in what the firms called the largest deal of its kind in New York City in 2021.”

Grasso has a client roster that includes private equity funds, developers, institutional REITs, investors and other property owners. She frequently represents them in connection with the structuring and closing of real estate transactions, such as acquisitions and dispositions, developments, financings, portfolio transactions, preferred equity investments, leasing and real estate joint ventures.

Grasso serves on the Advisory Board and helps to spearhead the firm’s partnership with Project Destined, whose founder Cedric Bobo also made the Power 100 List. Project Destined is a leading social impact platform that provides training in financial literacy, entrepreneurship and real estate. Additionally, Grasso serves as co-chair for Rebuilding New York’s “She Builds” platform, which provides construction training for underprivileged individuals and conducts community revitalization programs.

Besides being named in Commercial Observer’s Power 100 last year, she is frequently recognized by a multitude of industry publications and organizations, including being named both as a “Notable Woman in Law” and “Notable in Real Estate” by Crain’s New York Business.
