Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP is pleased to announce that Austin tax & ERISA associate, Caitlin Sawyer, has been honored as Lone Star Legal Aid's 2018 High Impact Collaborator for her extraordinary work and leadership in support of Hurricane Harvey survivors.

Sawyer led a group of lawyers across the firm at Hunton Andrews Kurth, and in-house at ExxonMobil, in assisting victims of the storm with their FEMA appeals in every case that was referred to the partnership by Lone Star Legal Aid. The firm ultimately assisted 14 clients through the partnership, all as a result of her leadership.

Partner Dan Garner, member of the firm's pro bono leadership team and chair of the Dallas office pro bono committee, spoke highly of the award recipient, extolling her strong leadership skills and inspiring dedication to pro bono work: “Caitlin saw a need and stepped out of her normal comfort zone to help—and eventually to lead. She did it all with relentless, understated focus, never calling attention to herself in the process. Caitlin is yet another example of the very best of what our firm's pro bono mission is all about. We couldn't be more proud of her.”

The Honorable Mike Wood (Probate Court No. 2, Harris County, Texas) presented the Lone Star Legal Aid 2018 High Impact Collaborator award to Sawyer, in chambers, on October 24, 2018.
