(Houston, Texas)—Andrews Kurth announced today that Houston Office Managing Partner, Robin Russell, will receive the 2017 Dan Rugeley Price Memorial Award given by the Texas Bar Foundation. Robin is only the fourth woman to receive the award in its 23-year history and the first woman to receive the award in over ten years.

The Dan Rugeley Price Memorial Award was established by Dan’s friends and family and endowed through the Texas Bar Foundation in June 1996. The award celebrates Dan’s life as an outstanding lawyer who devoted himself completely to any task he undertook. Dan practiced law in Austin, Texas and passed away in January 1994.

The award is given annually to an outstanding Texas lawyer who exhibits an unreserved commitment to clients and to the legal profession. The recipient demonstrates the qualities of an accomplished legal writer and researcher, a talented and dedicated practicing lawyer, a servant of the legal profession as a volunteer, and an advocate on its behalf.

"There is nothing so heart warming and humbling as having your colleagues believe in you to the point of handing you an award," Robin said. "I am grateful to my family, my friends and my firm for supporting me in my professional endeavors."

"Robin Russell is an exceptional lawyer and person," said Bob Jewell, Managing Partner. "To be the single attorney recognized with this award out of the state’s nearly 100,000 lawyers is an honor of which she is truly deserving."

A native of Devine, Texas, Robin received her J.D. cum laude from Baylor University School of Law, where she was the highest ranking graduate and Editor-in-Chief of the Baylor Law Review. She holds an LL.M. in Banking Law Studies from Boston University. Robin began practicing law at Andrews Kurth LLP almost 30 years ago following a clerkship for the Texas Supreme Court. She now serves as the Houston office Managing Partner and co-chairs the Bankruptcy & Financial Restructuring Section.

Cited as a leading lawyer in her field by numerous legal publications, Robin is listed as one of Chambers & Partners America’s Leading Business Lawyers; among The Best Lawyers in America®, included on the Texas Super Lawyers list of outstanding Texas attorneys (published by Thomson Reuters), and recognized as a “Woman in Energy Law” by Texas Lawyer.
