In this program, panelists will explain exactly what reverse mortgage loans are: both those that have a government insurance component and those called “proprietary” because they are unrelated to government programs. We’ll explain how the government program, with our client Ginnie Mae, works, and how government reverse mortgage loans are financed before and after securitization with Ginnie Mae. The panel also will explain private financing and securitization of proprietary mortgage loans. Throughout, the panel will explain the legal structures designed to protect the parties from the unique risks associated with these loans.
