Overview

Crawford guides clients through labor and employment matters, including labor union organizing campaigns and strategies, internal investigations, and litigation surrounding non-compete agreements, trade secrets, discrimination, and wage and hour disputes, among other issues.

Crawford represents clients in various aspects of labor-management relations, including representation elections and unfair labor practice charges, and he actively assists clients in developing campaign management strategies and litigation responses to corporate campaign activities. In addition to his traditional labor practice, Crawford regularly represents clients in federal courts regarding allegations of employment violations including, but not limited to, employee misclassification, discrimination, restrictive covenant agreements, and ERISA.

Crawford actively assists clients with labor and employment issues that arise in mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions. He assists clients with negotiating certain aspects of purchase and sale agreements, and he further advises clients on the WARN Act, non-competition and other restrictive covenant agreements, consulting and other ancillary transaction agreements, and general due diligence, among other issues.

Crawford is a contributing author to the Hunton Employment & Labor Perspectives blog. Before joining the firm, Crawford served as a judicial law clerk to Judge Lynn N. Hughes of the Southern District of Texas. Crawford also practiced as an associate at an AmLaw 10 firm in Houston.

  • Advised one of the world’s largest e-commerce retailers regarding several election campaign petitions and related unfair labor practice charges.
  • Represented one of the world’s largest e-commerce retailers before the National Labor Relations Board in its hearing over objections to the result of a union election.
  • Provided strategic labor relations advice and counseling to a professional business consulting services company.
  • Represented an energy client in the Southern District of Texas regarding alleged ERISA violations.
  • Defended an energy client regarding alleged violations of overtime pay, race discrimination, and retaliation in the Southern District of Texas.
  • Represented an energy client in the Western District of Texas in an independent contractor collective action regarding FLSA allegations, among other allegations.
  • Provided wide-ranging employment advice and counseling to a food industry client across multiple U.S. jurisdictions, as well as compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
  • Provided trade secret counseling and advice to a financial services client across multiple U.S. jurisdictions.
