Three Hunton Andrews Kurth Partners Recognized by Los Angeles Business Journal in “Top 100 Lawyers”
Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP is proud to announce that Los Angeles partners Jane Hinton, Roland M. Juarez and Ann Marie Mortimer have been featured in the Los Angeles Business Journal’s inaugural “Top 100 Lawyers.” The award spotlights the most influential attorneys in Los Angeles County based on legal achievements, community involvement and impacts to the profession.
As a partner in the firm’s Capital Finance & Real Estate team, Hinton brings a broad range of experience to commercial real estate and finance transactions, representing investors, financial institutions, investment funds, and other clients in single-asset and portfolio transactions nationally. She also leverages her position as an Office Diversity and Inclusion Initiative Leader for the firm’s Los Angeles office to promote engagement opportunities and educational programs on diversity both within the firm and beyond. This includes acting as the point-of-contact for the Los Angeles Office Women’s Mentoring Circle, arranging networking events and training sessions to help women achieve career advancement and coaching teams through the Project Destined program, a firm partnership that pairs underprivileged youth with executives to evaluate real estate deals and develop pitches in competition.
Juarez handles high-stakes labor and employment cases for some of California’s largest and most high-profile employers in the temporary staffing, service, manufacturing, and retail industries, defending clients against challenging wage and hour, discrimination, non-compete and anti-raiding claims facing employers in California and across the nation. He is currently leading multiple groups of class, collective and other complex employment litigation for several clients, in varied industries, and has developed a new unfair competition and employee raiding practice in California. Beyond his labor and employment representations, Juarez is committed to his community, serving for nearly a decade as Chief Counsel of the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and developing two mentorship programs for minority lawyers at Hunton Andrews Kurth.
Head of the firm’s commercial litigation practice, Mortimer is well-versed in advising high-profile clients on data protection and compliance with regulatory mandates on privacy and data security. She was the lead lawyer defending an internet service provider in a class action lawsuit that has been deemed the largest data breach in history and was featured this year as lead counsel on one of the Daily Journal’s Top Defense Verdicts in California for her representation of one of the largest American multinational big box retailers in a class action lawsuit involving an alleged data privacy breach and its precedent-setting decision as one of the first dismissals of a California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) claim on the merits. Mortimer’s leadership in cybersecurity litigation extends to model leadership within her firm and the community as one of only a handful of female managing partners in California, the founder and managing partner of the firm’s Los Angeles office and a member of the firm’s executive committee as well as pro bono committee.
