The Article 29 Working Party (WP29) of European data protection regulators has approved the EU-US Privacy Shield framework for transatlantic data transfers for at least a year. Speaking with several media sources, Aaron Simpson said the WP29’s statement recognizes the good work done by the negotiating parties while emphasizing that more work remains to fine-tune the balance between individuals’ rights and the practical issues facing global businesses that rely on cross-border data transfers.
