Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP was named to The National Law Journal’s Appellate Hot List for 2019. The list recognizes top law firms that have “won key matters before the U.S. Supreme Court and federal courts of appeals, staying true to their practice philosophies along the way.”

Led by a former justice of the Supreme Court of Texas and two former state solicitors general, Hunton Andrews Kurth has an accomplished issues-and-appeals practice. Elbert Lin, one of the co-chairs of the firm’s issues and appeals practice, spoke to The National Law Journal about some of the firm’s top U.S. Court of Appeals wins, citing the First Amendment victory in the Fourth Circuit in In re Murphy-Brown, in which the team “overturned a sweeping gag order on an expedited petition for writ of mandamus.” Lin also mentioned the grant of certiorari from the Supreme Court in County of Maui v. Hawai’i Wildlife Fund, which is set for argument this fall.
