Steven Haas has been appointed to chair the Corporate Laws Committee of the ABA Business Law Section. The Committee is charged with maintaining the Model Business Corporation Act, which is followed in whole or in part by a majority of states. Haas will serve a three-year term as chair.

Committee members are appointed and have included partners in law firms, general counsel and other inside counsel, law and business school professors, federal and state judges (including justices of the Delaware Supreme Court and chancellors of the Delaware Court of Chancery), members and division directors of the Securities and Exchange Commission and a former director of the Central Intelligence Agency.

Haas is the second lawyer from Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP to chair the Committee, George Gibson having chaired the Committee from 1962 to 1965. In addition, special counsel Allen C. Goolsby served two six-year terms on the Committee.
