Our pro bono practice continues to expand into new communities and causes, cultivating numerous opportunities to partner for the public good. We are proud to acknowledge the following recent pro bono recognitions from around the firm.

Charlotte—May 22. In recognition of their valuable legal contributions to the state of North Carolina, Robert J. Hahn, Bryon Mulligan and Alex R. Velinsky were inducted as member of the inaugural class of the NC Pro Bono Honor Society. The honor was given to all NC lawyers who reported providing more than 50 hours of pro bono legal service in 2016.

Miami—May 5. The Dade County Bar Association recognized Rail Seoane for his work with the Put Something Back Pro Bono Program, providing legal advice and services to those who cannot afford assistance, such vulnerable children, foster teens, victims of human sex trafficking, the elderly, immigrants, nonprofits, and others facing legal threats.

Richmond—May 14. The William & Mary Law School Association honored Heidi W. Abbott with its 2017 Citizen-Lawyer Award during the Law School’s Diploma Ceremony. The award is the association’s highest recognition and is given annually to a graduate or friend of the Law School who has made a lifetime commitment to citizenship and leadership.

Washington—June 1. Andrew W. Eklund was named a Pro Bono Attorney of the Year by Legal Services of Northern Virginia for his generous work at the Wills Clinic, the firm cohosts with Capital One, HP and AOL. Along with this recognition, Andy has been elected to the LSNV’s elite Rule 6.1 Society.

Hunton & Williams continues to lead the way in community service in the United States, and the firm’s tradition of pro bono service is well recognized. During the firm’s last four fiscal years, 100 percent of the firm’s full-time US lawyers worked on pro bono projects. The firm maintains neighborhood offices in Richmond, Charlottesville, Virginia, and Atlanta solely dedicated to pro bono services for low-income individuals as well as a Pro Bono Fellows program.
