Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP is pleased to announce that real estate partner Kathleen Wu has been elected as a member of the Philosophical Society of Texas, a leading group of scholars and top professionals who are dedicated to promoting and preserving the literature, scientific discovery, and philosophical studies of Texas.

Wu is among a select group of inductees to the prestigious organization, which limits its invitation-only membership to 200 persons of distinction, “whose life and character have furthered the purposes for which the Society was established.” Only persons who reside within, were born within, or at some time have resided within the geographical boundaries of the late Republic of Texas, are eligible for membership.

Founded in 1837, the Philosophical Society of Texas sought to unite the efforts of modern day philosophers, including several government and military leaders, scholars, scientists and learned professionals, to record and publicize an accurate picture of life in the fledgling republic.

Today, the organization’s membership includes top public officials, academics and business leaders like Wu, whose Texas-based real estate practice serves a national clientele from Wall Street to California, crossing multiple industries and disciplines, including everything from hotel chains, governmental authorities, investment banks, and syndicators to real estate developers, lenders, loan servicers, and many other entities.
