Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP partner Emily Burkhardt Vicente was honored by the Los Angeles Business Journal’s 2023 Diversity, Equity + Inclusion Awards as a nominee for Diversity, Equity + Inclusion Executive of the Year. The awards program took place March 29th and recognized diversity and inclusion champions in the Los Angeles area for their ongoing efforts to celebrate and respect the unique needs and perspectives of all their team members while simultaneously creating an inclusive environment that enables diversity to thrive.

As co-chair of the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee, Vicente has worked to promote opportunities for women and diverse lawyers within the firm and profession. She has skillfully navigated this role, particularly in recent years in which pay equity, the #metoo movement, racial equality, gender identity and other inclusiveness conversations require a mix of empathy, honesty and practicality from our leaders. In her practice as co-head of the firm’s Labor & Employment Team, Vicente also regularly works with clients on the design and implementation of diversity, equity and inclusion programs to help companies achieve their DEI goals while remaining in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

All nominees, including Vicente, were featured in the March 27th edition of the Los Angeles Business Journal.
