NEW YORK ― Hunton & Williams LLP announces Lisa J. Sotto, head of the firm’s global privacy and cybersecurity practice and managing partner of the New York office, was selected as one of The National Law Journal’s Regulatory & Compliance Trailblazers for 2015. This award honors legal professionals who are leaders and pioneers in innovation in the regulatory risk and compliance fields.

Sotto had the foresight more than a dozen years ago to build what has become one of the world’s best-known privacy and data security practices and to co-found the Centre for Information Policy Leadership, a think tank within Hunton & Williams that works with member companies and data protection authorities worldwide to develop the next generation of information privacy rules.

Lisa assists clients in identifying, evaluating and managing risks associated with privacy and information security practices, data breach incidents and related policy issues. She is the editor and lead author of the Privacy and Data Security Law Deskbook, published by Aspen Publishers, Wolters Kluwer Law & Business. This treatise is a well-known resource for companies across a broad range of industry sectors focused on managing privacy and cybersecurity issues.

Lisa received the highest honor of “Star” individual for privacy and data security by Chambers USA 2015, and she was recently named to The National Law Journal’s 2015 Outstanding Women Lawyers list, the latest recognition of Sotto’s career and reputation as one of the world’s leading practitioners in privacy and cybersecurity law. Also named among The National Law Journal’s “100 Most Influential Lawyers,” Lisa speaks frequently at conferences and seminars, and testifies regularly before Congress and US and international regulatory agencies. She is the author of numerous treatises and articles, has been selected to lead several industry committees and organizations, is sought after by media outlets and industry publications for her professional insights, and appears regularly on national television and radio news programs.
