Hunton & Williams LLP partner John J. Beardsworth Jr. has begun a one-year term as Chair-Elect of the American Bar Association’s Section of Public Utility, Communications and Transportation Law followed by a one-year term as Chair. Beardsworth was elected at the annual ABA meeting in August. This Section is the third oldest in the ABA and was established in 1917 when public interest demanded regulation of areas involving communications, cable TV, internet, gas, oil pipelines, railroads and water industries, among others. Beardsworth also served as Vice-Chair of the Public Utility, Communications and Transportation Law Section.

Beardsworth is global head of the firm’s business practice group and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee and Partnership Admission Committee. His practice focuses on energy and infrastructure transactions and project finance. Beardsworth has been listed in Chambers Global (since 2007), Corporate Law (since 1995), Public Utilities/Energy Law (since 1995), International Trade & Finance Law (since 2003), Project Finance Law (since 2006) and The Best Lawyers in America.
