Based in New York, Abelev represents domestic and foreign clients in patent portfolio management and procurement, patent litigation, contentious and non-contentious proceedings before governmental agencies (e.g., the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB)), due-diligence studies, negotiations, and licensing matters, including related to business methods and designs. The majority of his practice focuses on medical imaging, analysis and therapy technologies, computer software and hardware, imaging technologies, semiconductor manufacturing, wired and wireless communications systems, material science and metallurgy, and other electrical and mechanical arts.
