New York — October 13, 2008 — Hunton & Williams LLP is pleased to announce M. Christine Klein, 39, has been promoted to Counsel status, effective October 10. As a member of the firm’s Global Competition Practice Group, Klein focuses on antitrust matters, franchising and distribution disputes, business torts, intellectual property, general civil litigation, and appellate advocacy. Klein is based in the firm's Richmond office.

The Hunton & Williams Global Competition Practice Group combines high-level government and private litigation experience. Lawyers in the group come from both of the U.S. antitrust enforcement agencies and include a former Assistant Attorney General and Deputy Assistant AG from the U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division, a former Deputy Director of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Competition, and two former senior litigators and other officials from the FTC. The group has experienced counselors and seasoned litigators, and, at the associate level, includes several former judicial clerks from the U.S. Supreme Court and other federal courts, and former staff members at the federal enforcement agencies. Working from offices in the United States and abroad, the group serves domestic and international companies in competition litigation, merger review, intellectual property matters, consumer protection and privacy, and criminal antitrust defense and related price-fixing litigation.

Klein received an undergraduate and law degree from the University of Virginia, where she was a member of the Virginia Law Review and a quarterfinalist in the William Minor Lile Moot Court Competition. Following graduation, Klein held a judicial clerkship with the Hon. Andrew J. Kleinfeld, United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
