Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP is pleased to announce that Steven M. Haas, co-head of the firm’s mergers and acquisitions practice, has been elected to the American Law Institute, an independent organization that works to clarify, modernize and otherwise improve U.S. law.

Haas is among 41 lawyers, legal scholars and judges elected to ALI in June 2021 based on professional achievement and demonstrated interest in improving the law. He joins 14 other Hunton Andrews Kurth colleagues who are ALI members.

Nationally recognized for his M&A and corporate governance work, Haas is an American College of Governance Counsel fellow and an appointed member of the Committee on Corporate Laws of the American Bar Association’s Business Law Section. He is co-editor and contributing author of Corporate Governance: Law and Practice (LexisNexis) and Goolsby & Haas on Virginia Corporations (LexisNexis), the definitive guide to Virginia corporation law.

Founded in 1923, ALI works to improve and clarify U.S. law through restatements, principles and codes to promote the better administration of justice. Through a highly selective process, ALI members nominate eligible attorneys who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in their area of legal expertise.
