Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP partners Ryan Ketchum and Jamie Head and associate Ian Hutter recently served as advisors to the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Commercial Law Development Program (CDLP) to analyze P3 project documents for the Office of Investment Board of Nepal (OIBN).

Following this engagement, CLDP hosted Ketchum and Hutter in Kathmandu on April 28 and 29 to lead a two-day risk assessment workshop on behalf of OIBN. The program aims to help the Government of Nepal understand the procurement process for P3 and risk allocation when drafting and negotiating project documents.

Lindsey Scannell, CLDP’s senior counsel for the Asia-Pacific region, expressed excitement about the well-attended workshop and hopes it will lead to positive outcomes for the OIBN. “Ryan Ketchum demonstrates a knack for understanding the central issues that emerging markets struggle with when using project finance for the first time and how to explain those issues clearly,” said Scannell.
