Hunton Andrews Kurth Represents IDB Invest in $10 Million Secured Loan to Belize Sugar Industries Limited

On February 20, 2019, the Inter-American Investment Corporation (“IDB Invest”) as lender, closed on a $10 million secured loan to Belize Sugar Industries Limited, a corporation organized and existing under the laws of Belize (“BSI”) as borrower. The proceeds of the loan will be used by BSI to finance fixed investments to increase its production of direct consumption sugars in Belize.

The U.S. based firm of Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP advised IDB Invest as international counsel. Belizean legal advice to IDB Invest was provided by Balderamos Arthurs LLP. Legal advice with respect to New York law to the borrower was provided by Holland & Knight LLP and Belizean legal advice to the borrower was provided by Courtenay Coye LLP.
