Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP is pleased to announce that partner Lorelie “Lorie” S. Masters was honored with the Thomas F. Segalla Service Award at the American College of Coverage Counsel’s (ACCC) annual meeting. ACCC bestows this annual award in recognition of dedication and service to the College. Recipients are recognized for their creativity, visibility and persistence, three characteristics that embody Tom Segalla, ACCC’s first president for whom the award is named.

ACCC is the preeminent association of US, Canadian, and Bermudan lawyers who represent the interests of insurers and policyholders. Its mission is to advance the creative, ethical and efficient resolution of insurance coverage and extracontractual disputes; to enhance the civility and quality of the practice of insurance law; to provide peer-reviewed scholarship; and to improve the relationships among the members of our profession. Seven of the firm’s attorneys, including Masters, are fellows in the ACCC.

A nationally recognized insurance coverage litigator, Masters helped found ACCC and served as its second President from 2013 to 2014. She handles complex, commercial litigation and arbitration for policyholders and has advised clients on a wide range of liability coverages, including insurance for environmental, employment, directors and officers, fiduciary, property damage, cyber, and other liabilities. She also handles various types of first-party property insurance claims, including claims under boiler and machinery, business-interruption, contingent business-interruption, extra expense, disability and other related coverages. Most recently, Masters has advised clients in a variety of industries on COVID-19 losses under a wide variety of first-party property and business-interruption policies and “package policies.” She advises clients on how to structure insurance programs effectively and on captive insurance and other alternative risk-transfer mechanisms. Masters writes and speaks extensively on insurance coverage, technology, and litigation.

In addition to receiving the award, Masters, along with partners Michael Levine and Lawrence Bracken II, presented during the annual meeting.
