Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP is proud to announce that New York partner and co-chair of the firm’s global real estate practice, Laurie Grasso, has been named to the 4th annual Notable Women in Law list by Crain’s New York Business. This list of Notable Women in Law is part of a year-long series from Crain’s New York Business to recognize and celebrate women in the workplace, across industries.

In its fourth year, the award honors dedicated, gifted and determined female lawyers who are fierce in their commitment to public service and pro bono causes. For these women, balance is an essential part of life: juggling distinguished careers, family, and philanthropic activities.

Crain’s New York Business noted that Grasso “is a well-rounded dealmaker” and “whose professional insights are prized by industry publications,” while being “involved in several organizations that seek to foster diversity in real estate.”

Grasso’s client roster includes private equity funds, institutional REITs, investors and other property owners, representing them in connection with the structuring and closing of real estate transactions, such as acquisitions and dispositions, developments, financings, portfolio transactions, preferred equity investments, leasing and real estate joint ventures.

In a previous article, Nicholas Bienstock, managing partner at Savanna, said, “Laurie is one of the most skilled real estate transactional attorneys I’ve come across in my 30 years in the business in New York. To be an absolute top-tier transactional attorney, you need to be a creative problem solver. There are people who have technical training to do a transaction, and Laurie certainly has that in spades, but she also is someone with tremendous judgment and a trusted consigliere as we pursue transactions and assess risk.”

“We’ve been in the trenches together, and there’s nobody I’d rather have in the trenches with me on complex situations,” Joshua Benaim, a founding principal of Aria Development Group, said. “She’s a great person, and she has a sense for good people.”
