Hunton & Williams LLP was named the 2017 Environment Law Firm of the Year by Chambers and Partners, during its recent annual awards ceremony. This is the latest honor for the high-profile work and outstanding client service provided by the firm’s renowned environmental practice group, which represents clients in the energy, oil and gas, and utility sectors.

Team head William L. Wehrum, who accepted the award on behalf of the firm, said, “We work hard for our clients every single day. It’s very gratifying to receive their recognition and this award.”

Chambers cited Hunton’s “preeminent practice in the environment space” and noted that the firm is “highly esteemed for its outstanding litigation capabilities. The group maintains a fine track record for its work on behalf of utilities and major energy industry players and possesses noteworthy [experience] across air, water, waste and climate change matters.”

Also attending the awards ceremony were partners Shannon S. Broome and J. Tom Boer, of the firm’s San Francisco office; partners Malcolm C. Weiss and P. Scott Burton, of the Los Angeles office; partners Kevin J. Finto and Harry M. “Pete” Johnson, of the Richmond office; and partner Chuck Knauss, senior attorney Todd S. Mikolop and associate Felicia Barnes, of the Washington office.

In addition to the special recognition at the awards ceremony, the firm continues to maintain its national top-tier position for its environmental and climate change practices in the newly released Chambers USA 2017 guide, as well as regionally for environmental law in North Carolina, Virginia and Washington DC, with individual lawyers being recognized as leading lawyers in the practice in these offices and in California.
