August 13, 2020 – Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP partners Cassandra (Sandy) Collins and Lorelie S. Masters were named to Benchmark Litigation’s 2020 Top 250 Women in Litigation. The publication honors the accomplishments and distinguished careers of female litigators.

Based in Richmond, Va, Collins co-leads the firm’s Energy Litigation practice group. Her practice includes a broad range of commercial litigation, with an emphasis on energy and construction matters. As a highly experienced first-chair trial attorney, she has helped manufacturers, energy companies, mining companies, utilities, beverage distributors and other major corporations streamline their existing dockets, resolve mission-critical disputes, prevent future litigation and minimize litigation-related expenses overall. At the firm, Sandy also serves as Administrative Team Partner for the litigation group, helping ensure that clients receive appropriate and cost-effective legal counsel. This marks the 6th consecutive year that Sandy has joined the ranks of Benchmark Litigation’s top female litigators.

Masters, based in Washington, DC, is a nationally recognized insurance coverage litigator. She has advised clients on a wide range of liability coverages, including insurance for environmental, cyber, directors and officers, property damage, and other liabilities and loss. She has won significant decisions, trials and arbitrations enforcing insurance for clients, with reported decisions in cases including Tyson Foods, New Century Liquidating Trust, Hoechst Celanese, and Dow Corning, among others. She has written two widely regarded treatises on insurance and international arbitration and, in addition to advising clients, serves as an expert witness and arbitrator. Masters also helped found the American College of Coverage Counsel and was its second president. Last August, she finished her time serving on the Board of Governors of the American Bar Association. She has an active pro bono practice and is a founding board member of the Human Trafficking Legal Center. This is the 7th year Masters has been named to Benchmark’s top female litigators.

Attorneys named to the 2020 publication were chosen through several phases of research: namely, the review of their recent case work, peer review in which we consider how attorneys at peer legal institutions might rank them, and a consideration of client feedback on their performances.
