Andrews Kurth Represents IDB in $200 Million Loan to Banco Itaú BBA, S.A.

(Washington, DC)—On April 12, 2013, the Inter-American Development Bank (“IDB”) closed on a US$200 million senior loan facility to Banco Itaú BBA, S.A’s Nassau branch in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.

The proceeds of the loan will be used to finance green projects in several South American countries in sectors that include, without limitation, (i) Renewable Energy, (ii) Energy Efficiency, (iii) Cleaner Production, (iv) Agriculture, (v) Biofuels, (vi) Forestry, (vii) Tourism, (viii) Transportation and (ix) Sustainable Building.

The U.S. based firm of Andrews Kurth LLP, the Brazilian firm of Dias Carneiro Advogados and the Bahamian firm of Halsbury Chambers advised the IDB on the financing.
