(Houston,TX)—Andrews Kurth Kenyon is pleased to announce that Benchmark Litigation has recognized firm partners Rose Cordero Prey and Michelle P. Scheffler as leading US litigation attorneys under 40 years of age in its 2nd Annual Under 40 Hot List.

The publication commemorates the most notable up-and-coming litigation attorneys in the US. To be considered for this exclusive list, individuals must be partner-level, of the age of 40 or younger, have had a hand in some of their firms’ most noteworthy recent cases and have earned praise from clients and peers regarding the quality of their work.

Attorneys named to the 2017 publication were chosen through several phases of research: the review of their recent case work, peer review in which Benchmark considers how attorneys at peer legal institutions might rank them, and consideration of client feedback on their performances. These attorneys, though young, have established themselves in their respective fields and are set to enjoy bright futures.

Rose Cordero Prey, a partner in the firm's New York – Battery Park office, counsels clients on patent litigation, licensing and due diligence in the mechanical, electrical and computer science arts. With over 10 years of experience in IP litigation, she has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in patent infringement cases involving a wide range of technologies, including consumer products, smartphone software, semiconductor fabrication and circuitry, laser diodes, wireless communication, automotive systems, ceiling grid systems, computer and television display technology, security systems, online banking and memory card readers. Rose has extensive experience in federal courts at the trial and appellate levels and before the International Trade Commission. She also has experience with post-grant proceedings in the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Rose earned her J.D. in 2004 from the University of North Carolina School of Law. She received her B.S., magna cum laude, in Mathematics (Physics Minor) from Elon University in 2001.

Michelle P. Scheffler, a partner in the firm's Houston office, is a commercial litigator who balances the business and legal needs of her clients in executing trial strategy. Michelle regularly represents clients in multimillion-dollar lawsuits in both state and federal courts across the country. While Michelle’s practice focuses primarily on clients in the oil and gas industry, she also handles trial and appellate matters in a wide variety of fields involving contract disputes, property rights and business torts. In her oil and gas practice, Michelle represents clients in a wide range of matters, including cases arising under operating agreements, lease termination disputes, royalty litigation and complex title disputes. Additionally, during her time seconded to the commercial litigation group of one of the world's largest oil and gas companies, Michelle gained not only subject-matter experience, but a unique insight into in-house counsel and business concerns, making her a more effective advocate for her clients. She received her J.D. in 2006, magna cum laude, from University of Houston Law Center where she was Order of the Barons and Notes and Comments Editor of Houston Law Review. She earned her B.S. in 2003, summa cum laude, in Psychology from the University of Houston where she was on the Dean's List.
