Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP was named “Environment Law Firm of the Year” at the 2021 Chambers USA Awards. This award recognizes the high-profile work and outstanding client service provided by the firm’s renowned environmental practice group, which represents clients across a wide range of industry sectors, including energy, manufacturing, agriculture, financial services, and real estate.

Group head Eric Murdock observed that “We have a large cadre of talented environmental attorneys with decades of experience covering the full spectrum of environmental regulatory programs, including many with high level experience within federal and state government. We couldn’t be prouder of this recognition for the work our team is doing at the highest levels for clients.”

Chambers cited Hunton Andrews Kurth’s environment practice as “a strong litigation group known for its CAA expertise” and noted that the firm “offers marked strength at the appellate level including representation of clients at the US Supreme Court.” The group is “also known for its experience in clean water, waste and climate change matters as well as legislative challenges at federal and state level.” Chambers further noted the firm’s “expertise in the construction, transportation and utility sectors, among others.”

One client interviewed by Chambers commented that “it would be hard to do our work without them. They are responsive and really effective in providing a high degree of legal expertise.”

In addition to the special recognition at the awards ceremony, the firm received a top-tier position for its environmental and climate change practices in the newly released Chambers USA 2021 guide, as well as regionally for environmental law in California, North Carolina, Texas, Virginia and Washington DC, with individual lawyers being recognized as leading lawyers in the practice in these offices.

For decades, Hunton Andrews Kurth’s environmental practice has been at the center of the debate about the most important environmental issues related to Clean Air, Clean Water, Superfund and Endangered Species Acts. The team is known for leading the way for the regulated community in precedent-setting challenges at the state, federal and appellate levels, including several US Supreme Court cases. The group is top-ranked by Legal 500 and has been designated an Environmental Group of the Year by Law360 nine times.
